Taylorsville Unified Information
What is Taylorsville Unified?
Unified sports is a division of Special Olympics. Unified Track became an official, state sponsored event in 2023. As part of this, students from Taylorsville High with mental and physical disabilities and students from the neighboring school Hartvigsen can participate in track and field. What is Taylorsville Unified look like? Unified track athletes can participate in up to 3 events: shot put, 50 meter dash, and the 4x100 relay. Unified athletes will be participating in the region track meet at the conclusion of the high school track season. The top athletes from each region will be able to participate in the state meet, similar to the rules for Utah high school track and field. How can your track athlete support a Unified athlete? Unified track athletes will come to the Taylorsville track practice from time to time. Your athlete can support a Unified track athlete by teaching them about the events. Two legs of the 4x100 team will be run by Taylorsville track athletes and the other 2 will be run by Unified athletes. The track team athletes have to be on the Junior Varsity team. If your athlete is interested in participating on the 4x100 with the Unified team, please have them talk to their Taylorsville High coach. |
