Track & Field Traditions
Taylorsville Cross Country/Track & Field is committed to working hard while having fun to create champions of every student athlete. Below are traditions that we continue on an annual basis to ensure that we successfully achieve our team motto.
Meet MVP
The day after each meet we recognize one boy and girl who are the meet MVP. This is the person who best follows the team motto of working hard while having fund to create champions of every student. The Meet MVP isn't necessarily the athlete who won the most events, but rather often the athlete who worked hardest. This allows us the opportunity to celebrate a diversity of athletes on the team. The Meet MVP gets a t-shirt when we recognize him and her. |
PR Stickers
The day after each meet, we hand out PR stickers (personal record) to every athlete who broke their PRs at the meet the day prior. Athletes get a PR sticker for every PR they broke, meaning that they can receive multiple PR stickers on a single day. This allows us to celebrate every athlete on the team. |
All Time Top 10
Taylorsville High has a record of the top performers in each event (click here to see it). This allows more students to have their names in the official record book. |
Taylorsville Invitational
For the past 30 years Taylorsville High has hosted a track invitational. Invitationals are large track meets for varsity athletes. The Taylorsville Invitational happens each year on the 2nd Saturday in April. Over the last few years the Invitational has grown into the largest high school track meet in Salt Lake County. Each year roughly 30 schools attend. Everyone on the track team works during the day to run the invitational. It is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the top competition in the state. |
